LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A Lawrenceville man has been arrested after stealing a Toyota Corolla Thursday, fleeing from police and then trying to run an officer over, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.
Brian Ngo, 23, has been charged with theft by receiving, felony obstruction, hit and run, aggravated assault, and numerous traffic charges after stealing a car from a parking lot in Lilburn, police said. A man left his car running when he arrived at work in the area of Riverside Parkway and Lawrenceville Suwanee Road. The man’s phone was still in the car so he was able to track its movements. Officers from Gwinnett Police, Lawrenceville Police and Georgia Gwinnett College searched the area for approximately 40 minutes but were unable to locate the car.
Approximately 20 minutes later a Gwinnett Police officer was notified of a dispute occurring in the parking lot of the Collins Hill Library. Two men were arguing when an officer approached to investigate and realized that the stolen car was near one of the men, Ngo. The officer tried to detain Ngo but he fled in the car. While fleeing he caused minor injuries to the officer and struck another vehicle.
