Lawrenceville Trucker Gets Two Years For Killing Two in Crash
Vahid Husic slammed his truck into a traffic jam on Interstate 75 in Cobb County.

A truck driver from Lawrenceville was sentenced to two years in jail for killing two people when he slammed into what would become an eight-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 in 2013.
In Cobb County, Vahid Husic pleaded guilty Friday to two counts of vehicular homicide and other misdemeanor charges, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
He was also sentenced to eight years of probation.

The crash, on November 14, 2013, hospitalized five people and caused the deaths of two.
Gregory Alan Millsaps, 47 of Marietta, died at the scene when his BMW caught fire.

Barbara Phenicie, 71 of Peachtree City, was in a van being driven by her son. She died later at Kennestone Hospital.
According to police at the time, Husic was driving 65 mph when he crashed into a traffic jam near Hickory Grove Road on I-75.
Other vehicles had slowed to about 10-20 mph, according to police.
Investigators also said Husic had made two telephone calls while he was driving in the 10 minutes before the crash.
