Lawrenceville Woman Faces Murder Charge in Stabbing

Police say stabbing happened after several women spent a night out clubbing.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- A 28-year-old woman is Lawrenceville’s first murder suspect of the year after police say she stabbed to death a woman she had been out to nightclubs with over the weekend.

Jennifer Anita Smith is accused of stabbing Chelsea Rebecca Jones, also 28, of Lawrenceville, in the leg early Saturday after they and several other women had spent the evening out together.

“The investigation into the incident revealed six young females had been out clubbing and were returning home,” Capt. Greg Vaughn, of the Lawrenceville Police Department, said in a written statement. “An argument ensued, leading to one of the females … stabbing Jones in the leg with a knife.”
