Man Buying iPhones Robbed At Gunpoint In Gwinnett

The victim arranged to buy the phones via a mobile app and had met the supposed seller, who robbed him and a friend, at a convenience store.

TUCKER, GA — A man who arranged to buy some iPhones via a mobile app and his friend were robbed at gunpoint outside a Gwinnett County convenience store, police say.

The robbery happened outside the QuikTrip at 6182 South Norcross Tucker Rd. near Tucker on May 13.

The victim told police he had arranged to buy two iPhone 7s for $350 each through the e-commerce app OfferUp. He agreed to meet the seller at the QT and arrived at the location with a friend.

When he got there, he told the seller he wanted to conduct the exchange inside the store for safety. But after the two walked inside, the supposed seller said he didn't believe the victim had cash on him to make the purchase and walked out of the store.

He walked toward another man and a woman. When the victim approached him to show that he did, in fact, have the cash, the second man pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim.

The man threatened to shoot him and demanded all of his possessions, police said. The supposed seller also demanded the victim and his friend give them all of their possessions.

After taking all the victims' wallets, cash and credit cards, the robbers were seen running through a walkway that connects the Gwinnett Station Apartments complex.

Surveillance cameras captured an image of the man who claimed to be selling the iPhones, but not the other two suspects.

That man is described as a black male, standing 5'6" and weighing about 145-150 pounds. He was wearing a white T-shirt and identified himself as "Lil' J."

The second male robber was described as a black male about 5'10"-6' tall and weighing about 170 pounds. He has low-cut hair in a mohawk-fade style and was wearing a blue shirt and black jeans.

The woman was described as a Hispanic female, about 5'5" and weighing 160-170 pounds with a light complexion and long dark hair, wearing a black shirt and blue jean shorts and carrying a pink purse.
