Man Forced Daughter To Watch Porn While He Molested Her

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – A man was sentenced to life in prison plus 10 years Friday for molesting his four-year-old daughter at least seven times between 2012 and 2016.

Shaun Travis Legare was convicted of aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery and enticing a child for indecent purposes.

In Oct., 2012 a Gwinnett County Police Officer met with a mother at Eastside Medical Center regarding a child crime. The victim’s mother told him that she was giving her daughter a bath when she said that her butt and vagina hurt. The victim said her father, Shaun Legare stuck his fingers and hand in her hole. The mother videoed the outcry on her cellphone. Legare had last been alone with the victim days before.

A couple of weeks prior to this incident, Legare told the victim’s mother that he was having dreams about molesting the victim.

Later that month Legare moved to Philadelphia, Pa. In a phone call, he told police there were multiple
incidents where the victim would put her hands down her pants, and he would have to tell her to take her hands out of her pants. He admitted that he had a dream where he had sexually molested the victim.

The case was suspended due to lack of evidence.

In June 2016, Legare returned to Georgia, telling the mother he wanted to spend time with the victim. The mother wanted the case from 2012 reopened due to a new report of molestation by her daughter.

The victim did not want to see Shaun because of what he had done to her in the past. She stated she hated her father.

During a forensic interview with police, the victim said that her father was a bad man who hurt her and did bad things to her. She described Legare showing her a game on the TV where a naked woman and man were fighting. She claimed that Legare made her stay and watch the game, although she wanted to leave the room.

The victim was very shaken by this interview and was obviously uncomfortable speaking with a man. The victim said that Legare had sexually molested her on at least seven different occasions, and described him putting his fingers in her vagina while he stood behind her, making her look at the television, and slapping her when she would scream. She stated that she would bleed from the sexual abuse. She claimed that Legare told her that he would hurt her “more than anything” if she told anyone. The victim said that it felt like someone was stabbing her with something sharp in her stomach when Legare would molest her.

Legare first denied ever viewing porn around the victim, but then said that she may have seen him looking at porn on the computer because she would sneak around a lot. Legare claimed that he was always conscious of his actions and was never intoxicated around the victim. Legare said on two occasions he gave the
victim a bath between Sept. 2012 and Oct. 2012 and may have penetrated her vagina with his finger during the baths. He stated that he remembered her jumping and stating that it hurt. Legare said that he never meant to hurt the victim.
