Mother and Child Choking Victims Identified By Police

A man is in jail, accused of choking the mother and her 2-year-old son to death Sunday night in Buford.

BUFORD, GA — Gwinnett County Police have identified the 2-year-old boy and his mother who were choked to death in a brutal attack Sunday at their Buford home.

Cole Nation, and his mother, 30-year-old Natalie Nation, were killed in an attack that happened shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday at a home on Tybee Drive.

Brandon Williams, 32, of Buford has been charged with felony murder in the attacks. He was arrested late Sunday and is being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.

According to police, Nation was renting a room at the home where Williams lived. There was no familial or other type of relationship between Williams and the victims, police said.

Police say the attack happened while the homeowner, Williams' father, was outside working on a car in the driveway.

Police received a 911 call from the homeowner, saying that his son had choked a mother and child that lived at the house, then walked up the street to a gas station.

Williams was confronted by police at the gas station and arrested without incident. Both victims were transported to the hospital, where the baby died on Sunday and Natalie Nation died Monday morning.
