There is great movie and even greater book based on true events rated B for brilliance and M for must see and is titled: "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind."
This is the movie for a whole family to watch. It is 2019 British movie drama and can be found on Netflix. It has all the best reviews and is based on a memoir of survival of a young Malawi boy. The synopsis also focuses on boy's brilliant invention that helped during hard times. William and his poverty stricken family were on a verge of starvation. Boy wasn't able to attend school he loves especially science class that he loved the most.
His village was struck by drought and him, his family and friends were trying to find a way out of the desperate reality. When group of strangers attacked his family and stole even the last corn they had, fear from starvation became really serious. When friends helped William to use library, there he found books mostly about used energy. That gave him the idea how to make windmill to save his village from starvation and catastrophe. Using the bicycle's old parts and other metal, spare parts, William made the windmill that was pumping water desperately needed to dry land and crops. William's innovation saved his village. With windmill on the farm, Malawi got life back again. Little boy gave "wind of hope" and new life again to his village and to his family. The cast was great. The whole movie is so inspiring and every scene was worth of attention.
Malawi boy earned scholarship after his invention and was able to go to school again. He continued education in America. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 2014.
The book with same title is great for young readers and can be easily found at library and online stores too.
Driven by his own success William is today helping built a inventions center in Malawi. He is helping kids with their inovations and new ideas.
When asked about his own success, William said that his own success is not just his, but for the community in general. Today he lives in both places: America and Malawi.
