Murder Was Drug Deal Turned Into Robbery Shootout: Police

The dead body discovered by Gwinnett Police Monday was likely a shooting victim in a drug deal that turned into a robbery shootout.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — The dead body discovered by Gwinnett County Police Monday has been identified and police say the shooting was likely a drug deal turned into robbery shootout where three people were shot.

The deceased victim in this case has been identified as Michael White, 23. White was a resident at the apartment complex where the murder occurred. The two other people were Jabril Adams, 19, and Carlos Tabb, 25.

Detectives have determined this case likely a drug deal turned into a robbery. Detectives believe that Tabb was meeting with White and Adams to purchase marijuana. All three men met outside the 600 building on Hunters Club Lane. Detectives believe Adams and White attempted to rob Tabb, who produced a handgun. White and Adams also produced handguns and gunfire was exchanged. White was struck and killed.

Adams was also shot and was transported to a local hospital. He is charged with armed robbery and felony murder and will be transported to the Gwinnett County Detention Center upon his release from the hospital.

Tabb was shot and was transported to a local hospital by people at the scene. Detectives were notified and took him into custody at the hospital. He has since been booked in at the Gwinnett County Detention Center and is charged with criminal attempt to purchase marijuana and felony murder.
