New Gym At George Pierce Park To Open Soon
County officials have scheduled a ribbon-cutting at the gym, which got a $3 million upgrade, in early July.
SUWANEE, GA — An opening date has been set for the new gymnasium at George Pierce Park in Suwanee.
Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation officials have set a ribbon-cutting event at the gym for July 11 at 12:45 p.m. The public is invited to attend the official opening of the gym, which is located at 55 Buford Highway.
Last year, Gwinnett commissioners awarded a $3.2 million contract to refurbish the park's old gym. An 18,000-foot addition includes an elevated running and walking track, one full-sized basketball court, two overlay basketball courts and more.

The project was funded by money from Gwinnett's 2009 special-purpose, local option sales tax.
