It will be the second location of Penn Station for the franchisees, Rusty Clifton and Matt Hines, and the third location for the chain in metro Atlanta.

"We’re thrilled to open our second Penn Station restaurant in northeast Atlanta," Clifton said in a news release. "Penn Station has delicious grilled sub sandwiches, fresh-cut fries and hand-squeezed lemonade perfect for a hot Atlanta day. Our customers in Suwanee love our food and service and we are confident the Lawrenceville community will feel the same way."

The chain, which has more than 300 locations in 15 states, features grilled sub sandwiches, like its trademark Philadelphia cheese steak sandwich, and cold deli sandwiches.

Penn Station offers eat-in dining, carry-out and catering.

Clifton and Hines are planning several other metro-Atlanta locations, targeting Alpharetta, Cumming, Roswell, Buford, Johns Creek, Norcross, Duluth and Gainesville.

Founded in 1985, Penn Station was named the best sandwich chain in the Nation’s Restaurant News 2015 Consumer Picks survey. All but one of its locations are franchised.

Projections call for the opening of 20 restaurants nationwide in 2016. Penn Station is targeting Kansas City, Atlanta, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Richmond, Virginia and Dallas for franchise expansion.
