Dear Campus Community,
In June of last year, in the midst of the racial unrest surrounding the events in our country, I shared that I was both troubled and saddened. Today, unfortunately I still have these same feelings.
The GGC Community mourns the lost lives of eight people, including six Asian women, from the recent shooting in metro Atlanta. As a campus community, we cannot ignore the threats, intimidation, assaults, injuries and death that is fueled by Anti-Asian discrimination and the crimes against them. Over the past year, Asians and Asian Americans have been the victims of increased racism and xenophobia.

GGC is a Minority Serving Institution for minorities that include Asian, Asian American, Native American, and Pacific Islander students and we stand in solidarity with these communities everywhere. As I stated last year, the GGC community is diverse and inclusive and we must continue to commit to be an example of a community that celebrates our differences.
