Part of Sugarloaf Mills Mall Evacuated Over Package

There was a suspicious package located near Sun & Ski, Gwinnett police said. The mall was reopened after less than an hour and a half.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- Sugarloaf Mills was reopened late Friday afternoon after part of the mall wasΒ evacuated because of a suspicious package.

Gwinnett County Police said it was the area around Sun & Ski that wasΒ evacuated.

The alert came shortly before 3:30 p.m. It was shortly before 5 p.m. when police issued an all-clear.

The department's hazardous disposal unit was at the scene, assessing the danger level, police said. A police spokeswoman did not immediately have information about what the package was.

Sugarloaf Mills Mall is located at 5900 Sugarloaf Pkwy. in Lawrenceville.
