Pizza Driver Killed in Apparent Robbery Attempt

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- A pizza delivery driver from Buford was shot and killed late Tuesday in what police say was an apparent robbery attempt.

Shane Varnadore, 28, was delivering a pizza to the apartment complex at 1400 Herrington Road in Lawrenceville shortly before midnight when he was shot and killed, Gwinnett County Police said in a news release.

The motive for the shooting appears to have been robbery, police said.

The shooting remained under active investigation Wednesday, with police saying they were following several leads in the case. They were asking any residents of the apartment complex who may have witnessed the shooting to come forward.
