Police: Bizarre Accident Led to Father's Falling Death
Family said a Lawrenceville man was chasing his son when he fell through a staircase bannister.

A Lawrenceville man was reportedly chasing his son when he tripped on a chair, crashed through a staircase bannister and fell to his death, police say.
Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Gwinnett County Police were dispatched to a medical call at 130 Galesburg Dr. in unincorporated Lawrenceville.
When they arrived, they found medical personnel treating Jeffrey Williams, 50, in the foyer of the home. There was a large amount of blood in the area where he lay, according to police.

Williams was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, where he died of his injuries.
According to a news release, Williams’ son told police that his father had chased him out of an upstairs bedroom when he tripped over the chair on the landing. He fell through the stair bannister and into the foyer, the son told police.

An autopsy on Williams’ body was conducted Monday. The results were still pending as of Tuesday morning.
