Police found one person injured by a gunshot early Tuesday morning, then another who was killed about three hours later.

BUFORD, GA — One person was killed and another injured early Tuesday morning in a shooting that police believe happened around Buford near the Hall County line.

At about 3 a.m., someone in the Duncan Park neighborhood called 911 to report hearing gunshots. Gwinnett County Police officers arrived shortly afterward to find a man in his early 20s suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was found in front of a neighborhood clubhouse at the end of Express Lane. He was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, where he underwent surgery. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, said police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera.

Investigators began working the scene and a K9 unit from Lilburn Police was called in to help search the area. Shortly before 7 a.m., a second shooting victim was found, dead, in a vehicle about 200-300 yards away from the original crime scene.

The vehicle and body were found alongside a dirt road in the back of the neighborhood, just inside Hall County.

Express Lane is off of Duncan Ives Drive, near Friendship Road.

As of noon Tuesday, police had not identified a suspect or suspects in the shooting. The investigation was ongoing and detectives said more people are believed to have been involved than the two people who were shot, Pihera said.

The identities of the victims were not being released pending notification of their families, she said.
