Popping Sounds Alert Mother, Daughter to Escape Townhouse Fire

No injuries reported at late-night fire near Northwood Country Club.

A mother and daughter escaped unharmed from a midnight townhouse fire near Northwood Country Club.

Gwinnett Fire said in a press release that the mother was in the basement of the Long Iron Place residence when she heard a popping sound. She found smoke coming from the attic, alerted her daughter and they escaped.

No injuries were reported.

Gwinnett firefighters arrived at 11:26 p.m. Friday night to find heavy smoke in the first and second floor with fire in the floor system separating the basement from the first floor. The fire was under control at 12:18 a.m.

The blaze caused heavy fire damage to the first floor; smoke and water damage throughout.
