Presidential Primary Results: Trump Edged Rubio in Gwinnett

On the Democratic side, Clinton easily outpaced Sanders among Gwinnett voters.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- It was a much tighter race than it was in the rest of the state. But, in the end, Gwinnett County voters gave the edge to billionaire Donald Trump in Tuesday’s Republican presidential primary.

Trump, who won Georgia among several other Super Tuesday prizes, garnered 32,014 votes in Gwinnett, outpacing Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who got 29,652 votes in the county.

Statewide, Trump earned 498,529 votes, easily outpacing Rubio with 314,235 and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who got 303,427.

In Gwinnett County, Cruz took third with 25,313 votes. The race’s other candidates barely tallied. Ohio Gov. John Kasich won just 5,457 Gwinnett votes and doctor Ben Carson received 5,029.

On the Democratic side, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton dominated in Gwinnett, as she did in the rest of the state.

Clinton, who won Georgia easily, got 37,465 Gwinnett votes, compared to 18,883 for Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
