The Russia Ukraine Crisis-Is This the Start of World War III?

As Russia attacked Ukraine, explosions and gunfire rocked Ukraine’s capital-Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been calling the Western leaders for help. In just one day, the death toll in Ukraine went up to 137 and 316 injured since Russia is not only striking military targets but also civilian sites. Zelensky pledged not to surrender, despite grave personal risk, and spoke to the nation and said that. “According to the information we have, the enemy has marked me as target No. 1, my family as target No. 2,” he told Ukrainians in an early-morning address. “They want to destroy Ukraine politically by destroying the head of state.”
President Biden called Mr. Putin’s move an unprovoked, unjustified attack. Mr. Biden said, “the U.S. would impose new sanctions on Russian banks and elites in the country.” He further stated that "Putin is the aggressor. Putin chose this war. And now he and his country will bear the consequences. Russia alone is responsible for the death and destruction this attack will bring, and the United States and its Allies and partners will respond in a united and decisive way,” Biden tweeted.
In relation to the crisis, the Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the Fifth Caliph, His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad has said: “For many years I have warned the major powers of the world that must heed the lesson from history, particularly in relation to the two catastrophic and devastating world wars that took place in the 20th century. Most regrettably, now a war in Ukraine has started and the situation has become extremely grave and precarious. Unquestionably, the consequences of any escalation will be horrific and destructive in the extreme. I pray that the world leaders strive earnestly to safeguard and protect mankind both today and, in the future, from the torment of warfare, bloodshed, and destruction.”
The international community is condemning Russia for its barbaric attacks on Ukraine. President Putin cannot provide any justification for crushing the freedom of Ukraine which can, in turn, lead to serious circumstances compromising the peace, justice, and security of Europe. Russia should stop this unjustified violence and should pull back its forces so that peace and security could be established in the region.
