What's Open and Closed in Gwinnett County For New Year's 2017

Here are the New Year's hours for government offices and other popular destinations during the holiday weekend.

Many government offices and other services, both public and private, will be closed in the coming week for the New Year's celebration.

New Year's Eve is Saturday and New Year's Day is Sunday, with many places extending the break through Monday.

  • All Gwinnett County offices, other than those required for the comfort and safety of citizens, will be closed on Monday, January 2.
  • Gwinnett County Public Library branches will be closed January 1 and January 2.
  • Gwinnett County Transit will not be operating on New Year's Day. It will operate on a normal schedule for all routes on Monday, January 2.
  • County garbage and recycling schedules will run as normal during the holiday.
  • At Gwinnett County Public Schools, teachers and staff return to work from the holiday break on Wednesday, January 4, and students return on Thursday, January 5.
  • Georgia state offices will be closed Monday, January 2
  • Most Kroger and Publix grocery stores will remain open through the New Year's holiday. Most Aldi stores will close for New Year's Day on Sunday. Trader Joe's stores will close at 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve and be closed New Year's Day. Whole Foods Markets look to be open through the holiday.
  • Mall of Georgia will be open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on New Year's Eve and noon-6 p.m. on New Year's Day. Gwinnett Place Mall will be open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on New Year's Day. Sugarloaf Mills will close at 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve and be open noon-6 p.m. on New Year's Day.
