Hussain Saeed Alnahdi, 24, a Saudi student at the University of Wisconsin died Monday morning after he was assaulted and left bloodied near Pizza restaurant on a relatively crowded street early Sunday morning. My deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers go out to Hussain’s family who came to America to gain knowledge and ended up in losing his life. May his soul rest in peace. |
There are still many unanswered questions in the violent beating of Alnahdi but hate crimes against American Muslims are soaring to their higher levels. We see criminal threats against mosques; harassment in schools; and reports of violence targeting Muslim-Americans, Sikhs, people of Arab or South-Asian descent. It might be related to Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign which may have legitimized threatening or even violent conduct by a small fringe of his supporters.
America is an exceptional example of a melting pot where people from all over the world live together to create a beautiful culture. This is the responsibility of our politicians and leaders to create an atmosphere where we all can respect mutual sentiments and co-exist in peace rather than in conflict because every religion teaches the virtues of love, humanity, altruism and patience.
