Suspect Arrested In Duluth Shooting

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — An Atlanta man has been arrested on charges he shot another man during a robbery in Duluth.

Baltazar Guevara was arrested Monday by members of the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office. The arrest was in relation to an incident Sunday on Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth.

Guillermo Correa-Cortez was working at a shopping center there when police say he was robbed and shot. The Duluth Police Department identified Guevara as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.

Sheriff's office investigators were in the area of Industrial Boulevard and Tilly Mill Road in Doraville on Sunday working leads when they say they saw Guevara get out of a vehicle. He was taken into custody without incident by the sheriff's office fugitive unit.

Guevara has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime against a person. A hold also has been placed on him for immigration and customs officials.
