U-Pick Your Own Fruits and Vegetables!

Picking Your Own Fruits and Vegetables is So Much Fun!

(Picasa)

U-pick your own fruits and vegetables farms are so popular and they are easily found on many Georgia locations. This healthy activity is budget friendly and is great for the whole family. Kids enjoy picking their own fruits, spending some time in muddy ground :) but at the same time they also learn about where food comes from as well as the importance of locally grown food. In April and May we pick delicious strawberries, in July we pick blueberries, in August we pick Georgia peaches and then after in early Autumn we pick big pumpkins. To find some of these farms it is very easy. All you have to do is type: U-pick your own fruits and you will find so many different Georgia locations all within easy drive. My family and I love to pick seasonal and locally grown food. It is of much importance to eat seasonal food as much as possible. So many farms organize kids friendly events and festivals so that way they make these places even more interesting. There is no limit of how many fruits you can pick. Usually it goes by 1 gallon size basket as a minimum size for berries and peaches for example. It is great to see so many people enjoy their own picking at a farm. When they get tired of picking farms usually have shady areas with benches where people sit and eat their freshly picked delicious fruits. Besides having great little recreation of picking your own, these are very healthy little treats for whole family. Strawberry picking season has started already so plan a trip to a local farm with your family. State of Georgia is also called Peach State so I included the photo of me and my family from peach picking farm few years back. If you have never been at Georgia peach farm I gladly recommend to go with your family it is so much fun. It is just wonderful experience every time we go picking no matter what kind of fruits and vegetables it is. Do not forget to take your camera with you to make so many unforgettable memories.
