Teen Found Running On Interstate

Gwinnett County Police are asking for help identifying the young man, who is unable to give his name and wrote down the initials "J.T."

UPDATE: The teen has been identified as James Teate, Jr., 15. Police say his mother saw the police department's post on Twitter and called 911. She had not been aware he was missing and has been given the contact information of the Department of Family and Children Services. James was found about five miles away from his home, police said.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Gwinnett County Police are asking for help in identifying a teen who was discovered early Wednesday morning running on Interstate 85.

Around 5 a.m., officers were called to a report of a person on the roadway on Beaver Ruin Road near I-85. The officers arrived to find a juvenile male running in the southbound lanes of I-85 near the Indian Trail-Lilburn Road exit.

Police say he was given a piece of paper, on which he wrote the letters "JT.". A search of missing persons in the area didn't return any reports that matched those initials.

The teen had not yet been identified as of early Wednesday afternoon. He was taken to a local hospital to be checked out, then released to the Department of Family and Children Services until his family can be found.

He is described as a white male, from 13-17 years old, standing 5'6" and weighing 135-140 pounds. He has brown hair, hazel eyes and was wearing a green shirts with the words "Speed Freak" and a motorcycle on it, blue jeans and flip flops.
