Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter Relay For Life Recognition

Lawrenceville, GA - On August 19, 2022, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter (UAO) was nationally recognized by the American Cancer Society as a Southeast Region Relay For Life Top Performing Team due to raising $30,908 in 2021!

Ranked among the highest Relay For Life Teams, "Top Performers" are creating substantial impact in their communities, raising funds for cancer research and making strides towards a cure.

Mary Matthews, outstanding Relay For Life Activity Lead, represented the chapter in Dallas, Texas for a celebratory weekend. Upsilon Alpha Omega received accolades as a fundraising team for being ranked #112 nationally and #3 locally, in Gwinnett County, Georgia.

To date, Upsilon Alpha Omega has raised over $271,261! 2022 marks a historic 25 years of chapter participation in Relay For Life. Congratulations, UAO!

About Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter

On January 29, 1994, thirty aspiring professional women chartered the Upsilon Alpha Omega
Chapter in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The group gathered to implement and support the
international programs of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated as they pertain to the
needs of Gwinnett County, Georgia. Today, Upsilon Alpha Omega, the first African-American
Greek-letter organization in Gwinnett County is 500+ members strong, and has made a
