When Do Gwinnett County Students Return To School?

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — With the winter holiday break under way, the Gwinnett County school year is officially halfway over. So, how does the second half of the year shape up?

Here’s the second semester 2016-17 school calendar for Gwinnett County Schools.

Students return from Christmas break on January 5. They'll be off for the MLK Jr. holiday on January 16 and spring break begins on April 3.

January 2: New Year's Day observed (holiday)
January 3: Student/teacher holiday
January 4: Teacher planning/staff development (student holiday)
January 5: Begin second semester
January 16: MLK Jr. Day (systemwide holiday)
February 10: Student/teacher holiday (weather makeup day)
February 20: Teacher planning/staff development (student holiday)
February 22-23: Early release, elementary and middle schools
March 10: Student/teacher holiday (weather makeup day)
March 31: Student/teacher holiday (weather makeup day)
April 3-7: Spring break
May 22-24: Early release for high school exams
May 24: Last day of school
May 25-26: Teacher post-planning
May 29: Memorial Day (systemwide holiday)
