A 2016 Checklist for You and Your Pet

Here is a quick checklist for you and your pet. At Deceased Pet Care, we want the best for your pet, and want 2016 to be the best yet!

Can you believe not only is it 2016, but January has almost come and gone? We can’t either, but as time passes ever more quickly we wanted to put together a quick checklist for you and your pet in 2016. At Deceased Pet Care, we want the best for your pet, and want 2016 to be the best yet! No need for resolutions; we know know they’ll fade by February. Check these items off your list for a happier and healthier 2016.

Save the Date

We know, it’s as easy to avoid a trip to the veterinarian as it is the dentist. But don’t let 2016 be another year without a pet check-up. A little preventative measures can go a long way to saving you stress (and money) in the future. Plus, your Vet can give obtainable goals for you and your pet in the coming year.

Chip In

I know what you’re thinking… A microchip!? But yes. They are no longer a thing of the future, but readily available even at your next veterinary appointment. It’s non-invasive and non-surgical, so your pet won’t be down and out. Costing an average of just $25-50, it well worth the investment to ensure that if your favorite pet goes missing, you won’t have to break out the flyers to track him down.

Start a Fund

As much as we love our pets, it always seems to sting a bit when the bill comes in. Just like we set up emergency funds for ourselves, we highly recommend doing the same for your pet. You never know when an emergency will arise, but having the financial peace of mind to meet the need makes all the difference. Start putting away a little each month, but shoot for at least $500 in total.

Measure Up

The new year is rife with a million diets and plans for a thinner, happier you, but did you know almost 50% of pets are considered overweight? Just like in humans, extra weight can cause problems, not just in the present, but especially in the future. No need to hire a personal trainer for your pooch, just get a measuring cup. That’s right, portion control on your pet will not only thin them up, but it’ll fatten your wallet too. Follow directions and give your pet what she needs: nothing more, nothing less.

We could probably make a list 2,016 items long, but let’s focus on these four first. Little changes can make a big difference over a year. At Deceased Pet Care, we want you and your pet to remain at peak condition. Do you have any amazing hints or ideas for the best 2016 yet? Share them in the comments below.
