A Reminder from Gwinnett Police: Lock Your Car Doors

Because of a series of thefts from cars that weren't locked, Gwinnett police are reminding people to take that second to secure your vehicle's doors.

A "significant increase" in theft from vehicles - most of them unlocked - in the past few weeks has prompted the south precinct of the Gwinnett County Police to issue a reminder to lock the doors when you leave your car or truck.

"These thefts seem to be highest in the area of Centerville Rosebud Rd and Centerville Hwy (SR 124)," Crime Prevention Officer Aaron Brinkman said in an email.

About 75 percent of the vehicles entered were unlocked, Brinkman said. "Please remain vigilant in locking your vehicle as well as removing any valuables from sight."
