Gwinnett County Establishes New Chamber

Now Gwinnett County has a new Chamber of Commerce. In addition to the Gwinnett County Chamber of Commerce located in Duluth, the Southwest Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce was officially established in September to focus on Berkeley Lake, Norcross and Peachtree Corners.

The Southwest Gwinnett Chamber will represent a geographic area that includes approximately 7,500 businesses and 50,000 citizens. With those statistics, the new Chamber will rank in the top third of the 157 Chambers of Commerce in Georgia. Dave Gleim, Director of Sales for the Hilton Atlanta Northeast, who is the Chamber’s Chair-Elect, said those numbers are important. “This is a great community in which to own and operate a business. The Southwest Gwinnett Chamber will quickly become an asset to help local businesses grow and  prosper. It is the right organization at the right time in the right place.”

Steve Dorough, CEO of First Community Development, was elected the Southwest Gwinnett Chamber’s first Chairman of the Board. “This is a wonderful opportunity for the business leaders and residents in our community to work together to enhance the quality of life for all who live in Berkeley Lake, Norcross and Peachtree Corners. I am
honored to lead this new Chamber and excited to work with our membership to make this community a better place to live, work and play.”

The Southwest Gwinnett Chamber’s Program of Work will focus on six areas during its first year: 1) Support for Existing Business; 2) Economic Redevelopment; 3) Workforce Development; 4) Education; 5) Cultural and Performing Arts; 6) Marketing and Communications.

everyone who wants to see Berkeley Lake, Norcross and Peachtree Corners grow and prosper. One fan of the new Chamber is Lois Salter, Mayor of Berkeley Lake. “I am excited about the Southwest Gwinnett Chamber and what it will mean to the people of Berkeley Lake. We look forward to partnering with the Chamber to promote our community and make it better. All of us, working together, can have a positive impact on this area.”
