Free and Safe Edmodo is Designed to Enhance K-12 Learning

Lilburn, GA – 11-8-12 – Killian Hill Christian School has selected Edmodo to enhance K-12 learning at KHCS.  Killian Hill Christian School currently has 30 teachers and 378 students. KHCS joins a growing number of schools implementing Edmodo.

Killian Hill Christian School chose Edmodo because it is safe for students and gives teachers the ability to deliver individualized learning, regardless of class size.  Teachers and students will now be able to securely connect and collaborate, share content and educational applications. They can also access homework, class discussions, grades and notifications.  In addition, Edmodo offers parent accounts, which give parents insight into their children’s classroom activities.

I never thought as a 2nd grade teacher, I would ever use the computer for homework assignments, extra practice work, or a class project...but I was wrong.  Edmodo is giving my 2nd graders the opportunity to show how much they know about technology.  They are practicing math computations, connecting math to geography, and learning to communicate with me (the teacher) in the reply they type to me each night.  We are all growing and stretching our "technology legs" and loving it!

Edmodo has been an extension of my classroom and an extra tool.  The students love doing homework on the internet as well as being able to interact with other students and  the teacher.  It makes us feel more like a community. 

Fifth Grade Teacher

Edmodo has changed the way I interact with the students and placed much of the responsibility of their success on their own shoulders.  I place all special project instructions, PowerPoint presentations and notes, group report instructions, video clips for home viewing, and classroom expectations online, and this has enabled them to have access to forgotten notes for quizzes or tests and further instructions for projects and reports.  This medium does not replace classroom instruction; it simply enhances it.  "I forgot my notes at school"  or "I wasn't in class for those instructions" will never again be heard.  I constantly remind the students that "the instructions you hold in your hand are also on Edmodo."
