Third, Fourth and Fifth grade students from RD Head Elementary School in Lilburn competed in the state wide Science Olympiad for the first time this year and earned a respectable place in the top 10 overall best teams in the state.
Sponsored by the GFWC Lilburn Woman's Club and led by their Science teacher, Steven Giles, the team of up to 20 students competed against 65 other elementary school teams in a variety of various science, technology and math exercises held at Kennesaw State University.
The students won 1st place in Mystery Liquids, 2nd place in Straw Egg Drop, 6th place in What Went By (animal id), 7th place in Zowie Metric, 8th place in both Mystery Architecture and Map Reading.
