Local DAR Recognizes National American Indian Heritage Month

One of the goals of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is to preserve American history. In support of that goal, on November 18, 2012, Linda Olson, American Indian Committee Chair, Philadelphia Winn NSDAR, presented Philadelphia Winn NSDAR Peggy Freeman a proclamation from the city of Monroe and signed by Mayor Greg Thompson declaring November National American Indian Heritage Month. The proclamation recognizes how American Indians and Indigenous people have influenced American history. It also celebrates American Indian customs and traditions as part of a rich legacy throughout the U.S.

The event took place in Lawrenceville during the Philadelphia Winn monthly meeting. To learn more about the work of today's DAR, visit www.DAR.org. If you are interested in joining Philadelphia Winn, please email philwinndar@gmail.com.
