The GFWC Lilburn Woman's Club (LWC) selected Margot Ashley of SafetySmart Lilburn as this year's recipient of the 2013 LWC Outstanding Community Service Award for her tireless work to establish safer neighborhoods both in and all around the greater Lilburn community.
The mission of the LWC's Public Issues Program is to continuously educate and encourage action by both club members and citizens about community, home and vehicle safety issues. We are dedicated to the importance of active citizenship and Margot is a stellar example of how one woman can make a significant positive difference in people's lives.
Public Issues is one of six Programs of Work that LWC club members select to participate in every year. The other areas include Art, Education, Conservation, Home Life and International Outreach. This gives it's members the opportunity to work with other women to improve the social, cultural and physical needs of the community through a grassroots effort of volunteerism.
