Philadelphia Winn Chapter NSDAR Committee Chairmen Honored for Outstanding Service

Lawrenceville – On May 19, the Philadelphia Winn Chapter honored her Committee Chairmen with Certificates of Appreciation for Outstanding Service.  

The Chairmen head committees that set out to fulfill the mission of the National Society DAR: To promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Daughters match their interests and talents to the committee of their choice, ever mindful of these objectives. A Daughter with creative talent might choose the Scrapbook, the official record of the Chapter’s activities and accomplishments. During the year, she collects photos, event programs, and newspaper and online publicity, and uses these to create a memorable scrapbook that illustrates how Philadelphia Winn Chapter achieved NSDAR objectives.

Committees range from the American History Committee to Commemorative Events to Lineage Research. Daughters also serve on committees that honor good citizens, veterans, and our active military. The Literacy Promotion Committee mentors adults who have difficulties in reading, tutors children, organizes reading groups in libraries, and donates books. The Americanism Committee urges Daughters to assist in citizenship classes and to attend naturalization ceremonies, where they shake hands and welcome new citizens, hand out miniature American flags and copies of the more familiar parts of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. Those on the Soup Labels for DAR Schools Committee collect labels for cash to help fund the DAR schools.   

Philadelphia Winn Chapter NSDAR offers over 50 committees with either National, State, or Chapter recognition. As Committee Chairmen recruit more members, they make DAR stronger and better able to serve our nation in ever-greater numbers.
