Get to know the Apple of Our Eye - Lead Preschool I Teacher, Ms. Amberly Powell!

Ms. Powell is the Lead Teacher in our Preschool 1 classroom.  She grew up in Hall County in Oakwood, Georgia, which is where her mom, stepdad and little sister, Allissa, still live.  She enjoys going back on the weekends to visit with them and also meet up with friends on Lake Lanier.  Ms. Powell’s dad lives in beautiful St. Augustine, Florida and her little brother attends Florida Atlantic University.  With both her dad and brother living in Florida, it gives the perfect opportunity to visit and have mini beach vacations whenever possible!  Ms. Powell currently lives in Snellville, GA with her awesome grandparents. 

Ms. Powell has always loved teaching and being around children.  During high school, she was an afterschool camp counselor for the Hall County YMCA.  In May 2012, Ms. Powell graduated from Georgia Gwinnett College with her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.  Shortly after graduating, Ms. Powell obtained her teaching certificate along with an ESOL endorsement.  While in college, Ms. Powell also entertained children at El Drusso’s magic house as Mr. Tim’s assistant. 

Ms. Powell is also a very talented artist.  She enjoys painting and creating all types of art.  She was a huge asset in our Spring Fling preparations with her creative talent.  Ms. Powell also worked with a band where she painted custom shoes for their fans.  On the weekends, Ms. Powell loves spending time with friends and family, painting and climbing Stone Mountain.
