“Turn Drive Time to Me Time!” Facebook Contest to Celebrate Grand Prize Winner on Local Billboards

Contest increases awareness about commute alternatives and free resources to make the switch from driving solo

Traffic congestion in metro Atlanta steals away an average of 51 hours annually from each drive-alone commuter in the region, which totals more than a full weekend of time lost.  But those who carpool, vanpool, ride transit, telework and use other commute options have reclaimed those precious minutes to do the things they enjoy, from dishing celebrity gossip to knocking out Sudoku puzzles or even catching up on beauty rest.

To celebrate the time-shifting benefits of commute alternatives and the availability of Georgia Commute Options programs for both commuters and employers in the metro Atlanta area, The Clean Air Campaign and the region’s transportation management agencies (TMAs) are launching a Facebook contest on February 28 called, “Turn Drive Time to Me Time!”

Commuters are invited to provide a funny, clever or insightful 140-character answer about what they do -- or would do -- with the time they regain by choosing commute alternatives. Commuters can enter every day from February 28 to March 20.

The author of each submitted answer is eligible to win the grand prize of seeing their name in bright lights on Georgia Commute Options billboards in the Atlanta region for a week in late-March. The grand prize winner will be selected by a panel of judges from The Clean Air Campaign and the region’s TMAs.
