Bites Nearby: El Jinete Mexican Restaurant

Tucked inside a rather unremarkable strip mall off of Centerville Highway is a beloved Mexican dining establishment of many Snellville residents. Serving authentic Mexican cuisine,  takes your taste buds on a trip south of the border without doing damage to your wallet.

The inside of the restaurant is reminiscent of a Mexican cantina with wood paneled booths, warm lighting and the Spanish radio station playing in the background (if you listen closely you can hear the chef singing along from inside the kitchen). 

El Jinete boasts a rather large menu with appetizers, soups, salads, special dinners, combination plates and "Famous fajitas". The special dinners list includes dishes such as the soft or fried chimichanga, two deep fried flour tortillas filled with beef tips and fried beans, topped with lettuce, guacamole and nacho cheese (half: $5.50, full: $8.50). There are also classic Mexican favorites like the Carne Asada.

The famous fajitas are definitely worthy of their title. Be sure to try the chicken and shrimp fajitas; the chicken was wonderfully tender and the the shrimp were juicy and well seasoned ($11.99). Served with peppers, onions, beans, rice and traditional toppings it was a true feast. Portions are extremely generous and many diners left with to-go boxes. The service is excellent and extremely fast, orders came out within ten minutes.

If you're feeling particularly adventurous while dining try one of El Jinete's featured Mexican soft drinks. Be warned they are super sweet; a recommended selection would the Guayaba flavor. If you're looking for a stronger beverage to create a festive mood El Jinete does serve alcohol.

El Jinete Mexican Restaurant is located at 3303 Centerville Hwy, Snellville, GA 30039. Lunch is served Mon - Fri between the hours of 11:00a.m. - 2:00p.m. Lunch options are special combinations of the larger menu and range in price from $4.95 - $8.50. Dinner is served from 2:00p.m. - 10:30p.m. with menu options priced from $6.99 - $12.00. Takeout is available.
