Abortions

If Kirk Douglas's mother had opted for an abortion we would have missed his great performance as Spartacus. If Jonas Salk's mother had chosen to have an abortion we might still have the scourge of polio. Think of the wonderful people whom we will never know when the deadly prodedure is used. 

My mother, for example had two kids. If my only brother had been aborted I would have missed the wondrous teenage years with him before he was killed in the Battle of The Bulge in WW II. 

I think of Rimsky Korsakoff. We would never have heard the haunting 'Song of India'.

Monet and Manet painted floral magnificance. Henry Ford got us off the horse. Ronald Reagan lifted us up from the disillusionment of the Carter years. Ravel wouldn't have penned 'La mort de la princesse infantile' 'The Death of the Infant Princess'. James Cagney would have not have held us spellbound dancing and singing in Stars and Stripes Forever. We would have missed Liberace and Shirley Temple.

Remember the dance routines of Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Cyd Charisse, the voices of Dean Martin and Mario Lanza, the heroism of Audie Murphy and the wizardry of Walt Disney .

I regret that the mothers of Adolf Hitler, Idi Amin, Pol Pot, Jack the Ripper, Gary Ridgeway, Charles Manson, Geoffrey Dahlmer and several others didn't choose to have an abortion. But how could anyone foresee such madness.

The debate rages as to when life begins. It's simple. I believe when a heart beats once it signals life.

For those who had abortions because of carelessness or promiscuous behavior do you ever wonder, worry, regret, cry long into the night. I would. Your fetus could have become another Margaret Mitchell or Mother Theresa.
