Business Spotlight: Chimney Masters

Each week we feature a business from our hometown of Lilburn. This week, learn more about Chimney Masters

Freddie Suddeth opened the doors to Chimney Masters in 2005 after leaving the fire department in Dallas, TX, and moving to Lilburn. During his time as a firefighter, Suddeth started the business in his office hours after responding to numerous chimney fires and wanting to help people. Freddie and his son Michael offer a full range of services including cleaning, repairs and custom builds. I recently sat down to talk with Suddeth about Chimney Masters.

Patch: What is the best aspect of owning Chimney Masters?

Freddie: Our goal is to keep people safe and knowing that we can save someone, save their home. Especially when there are children involved.

Patch: What is the most challenging aspect of owning a chimney cleaning business?

Freddie: Keeping the right products on the truck because we go through a lot of stuff. I'm always running to the store so it burns up a lot of man hours. This season is especially difficult. If a customer wants a wood burning stove then we install it. They go out and buy a part of it but I have to chase down the rest. If a stove or fireplace goes on sale then it's usually discontinued so having to chase down those parts are the most challenging part of the business.

Patch: What makes Chimney Masters unique?

Freddie: We care about what we do. We love what we do. It's not just a business, it's a family thing for us. My wife, my son and I all work at making this business successful.

Patch: What makes the Lilburn community special?

Freddie: I just like it here. It's so special. I know the police officers and I know all of the fire department here and it's community-orientated for me. If you live in Atlanta or Dallas you don't neccessarily know your neighbor, whereas in Lilburn I know my whole subdivision.

Located at 1177 Pine View Rd., Chimney Masters is available by appointment. For more information check out their website at www.chimneymastersga.com
