Business Spotlight: Colter Sporting Goods
Each week we feature a business from our hometown of Lilburn. This week, learn more about Colter Sporting Goods.
Steve Colter opened his store in November of 1989. At the time, the Lilburn area was growing and needed a sporting goods shop. For the past 22 years, Colter and his staff have supplied local high schools, rec leagues and sports enthusiasts with a variety of gear, apparel and custom items. I recently sat down with Steve to talk about his business.
Patch: What is the best aspect of owning Colter Sporting Goods?

Patch: What is the most challenging aspect of owning a sporting goods store?
Steve: Owning your own business is very tough. I have only myself to blame for any problems that arise. There's more hours and there's more demands especially in a customer based industry. It's seven days a week and 24 hours a day, so it takes up a lot of time.

Patch: What makes your business unique?
Steve: We do more personalized and customized uniforms than any other sporting goods store in the area. We do custom uniforms, screen print shirts and sweatshirts, tackle 12 sweatshirts and we cater a lot to the high schools.
Patch: What makes the Lilburn community special?
Steve: There's a lot of loyalty in our community. We are very proud of our sponsoring of the rec associations and the high schools and what we offer back to this community. I've lived here for 24 years in this community and the people here are very loyal to us.
