Deadly Motorcycle Crash Blocks Lawrenceville Highway

The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. between Ronald Reagan and Pleasant Hill Road.

LILBURN, GA -- A deadly motorcycle crash on Lawrenceville Highway Tuesday morning snarled traffic on the busy roadway just before rush hour.

The crash happened around 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, Lilburn Police said.

According to police, Thomas Baptiste, 42, of Lawrenceville, was traveling south on a motorcycle when he was struck and killed by an Acura sedan that was turning left onto Summer Ridge Lane.

Baptiste was declared dead at the scene, police said.

The crash caused Lawrenceville Highway southbound to be closed between Ronald Reagan and Pleasant Hill roads.

At the time, delays of up to two hours were expected in both directions.

By 9 a.m., the Georgia Department of Transportation's traffic map was showing the area cleared and, at 9:05 a.m., Lilburn Police declared the road open.

No information was immediately released about the driver of the Acura.
