Great Escape: Memories at Chastain

Get ready to have an adult concert experience. Pack a picnic, some wine and just let loose.

Warm weather and longer nights welcome the wonderful evening entertainment only available at outdoor concert venues.  One of my favorite places to enjoy a low key, mature musical escape is at Chastain Park Amphitheatre.

Although the singers and musicians are not today’s top 40, they are still a great selection of performers that evoke memories from your 80’s and 90’s.  The upcoming event schedule for June includes the Monkees (yes, they are still together), Chris Isaak, Steve Miller Band and the music of Abba with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

All seats in this theatre provide an excellent view.  Plus, you have the option to buy a table for your complete dining experience.  Heed some tips from the Chastain regulars.  You will walk through a residential area to get to the park, so use a little portable dolly.  Bring stadium seats as the side risers are concrete.

Plan the meal like a (relaxed) pro. Stop by your favorite Fresh Market or Whole Foods and pick up the pasta salad, shrimp cocktail, fresh bread, cheese and wine to fill your cooler.  Or, use the on-site caterers to enjoy food and wine without the prep work.  Finally, bring a candle and your most romantic paper plates.

Are you getting excited for your mid-summer musical night?  Check the schedule and call a favorite couple to go with you. Your sales pitch- it’s time to escape down memory lane on a musically energized summer night. Who can resist?
