Gwinnett Libraries To Reduce Hours Beginning in October, Report Says

Libraries will remain open seven days a week, but with fewer hours.

Gwinnett Public Library branches will reduce hours beginning in October, but will remain open seven days a week.

At a special called meeting Thursday, the board decided that effective Oct. 23, libraries will be open 44 hours a week, down from 53 hours now, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post. A reduction in hours had been expected because the library is facing funding cuts from the county.

"We are at a point where we have to cut hours," said Library Director Nancy Stanberry-Kellam, according to the report. "Our service is suffering, and we don't have the staff."
