Gwinnett Police Look for Public's Help to ID Suspect Who Shot at Officer

The incident occurred Sunday near Norcross.

Gwinnett Police are still looking for the triggerman in a weekend shooting aimed at an officer on patrol.

Shots were fired at police around 10:25 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, from a speeding car during an attempted traffic stop in the Norcross area. The officer was not injured.

The officer chased a black passenger car, with two people inside, in the area near South Norcross Tucker Road and Jimmy Carter Boulevard. During the chase, the passenger fired several shots at the patrol car before the officer lost track of the car on Graves Road.

Several shell casings were found along Graves Road, police said. None of the shots hit the officer or vehicle.

Just after the shooting, another officer near the scene tried to stop another black passenger car, which fled at first, but stopped about a mile away.

“The driver of that vehicle was arrested for reckless driving, but both the driver and the other occupant have been eliminated from suspicion in the shooting. They are no longer considered suspects,” police said in a press release.

Gwinnett Police released photos of the suspected vehicle taken from a nearby business and are asking for the public’s help finding the suspects.
