Gwinnett Symphony & Chorus Presenting Concert of Romantic Music
Program for Valentines concert Feb. 17 features works by Rachmaninov with a special performance by guest pianist at the Gwinnett Center.

The Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra & Chorus will present a Valentines concert titled βShineβ at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, in the Performing Arts Center at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth. Concert ticket holders also will be treated to a pre-concert performance by the Gwinnett Symphony Youth Orchestra at 4:30 p.m.
The GSOC program will feature romantic works by Sergei Rachmaninov including a special performance of Rachmaninovβs "Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18" with guest pianist Robert Henry.
An internationally distinguished pianist, Henry has won four International Piano Competitions and gave critically acclaimed solo performances at the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. In 2010, he released a debut CD βTwelve Nocturnes and a Waltz.β He is currently artist-in-residence at Kennesaw State University. Also, the Gwinnett Symphony Chamber Orchestra will perform Johannes Brahmsβ romantic βSerenade No. 2, op. 16.β
The Gwinnett Symphony Youth Orchestraβs program will include Jenkinsβ βPalladio, movement 1,β SibeliusβΒ βAndante Festivo,β Dukas/Balentβs βSorcererβs Apprentice,β Meyerβs βCellos Ole!β and the Rimsky-Korsakov/Dackow βCapriccio Espagnol.βΒ

Emanuel Hill, 7th grade violist, will make his podium debut as a guest conductor on the βSorcerer's Apprentice.βΒ He won a conducting competition held by the GSYO.Β
Patrons with tickets for the 5:30 p.m. performance can enjoy the Youth Orchestra concert at no extra charge. Those wishing to attend the Youth Orchestra concert alone may buy tickets for $10 in the lobby before the concert.Β
Tickets for the Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra and Chorus concert range in price from $13.10 to $31.35 and can be purchased from a chorus or orchestra member, through Ticketmaster or the groupβs website www.gwinnettsymphony.org, or in person at the Gwinnett Arena Box Office.
The Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, comprised of adult and youth musicians, has been giving performances of classical and popular music for the metro Atlanta community for more than 14 years.
It is comprised of the Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Chorus, Ballet Orchestra, Youth Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra.Β Professional ensembles in residence include the Gwinnett Horn Quartet, Gwinnett Wind Quintet and Gwinnett String Quartet.
The Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra & Chorus is led by Music Director of Orchestral Activities Robert Trocina and Music Director of Choral Activities Rick Smith with Associate Conductors Scott Hague and Adrian Norris, Principal Guest Conductor and Director of Chamber Orchestras Dr. Gregory Pritchard, and Vocal Coach Barton Gilleland.
