Lilburn Police Hires First Female Captain
Capt. Christy Wentzell is a Gwinnett County native and Collins Hill High School graduate.

LILBURN, GA — The Lilburn Police Department has hired its first female captain.
Capt. Christy Wentzell joins the department's command staff as one of two captains. She will be responsible for uniform patrol, community outreach and fleet management.
"Capt. Wentzell brings more than a 13 years of law enforcement experience to the table and has supervisory experience in patrol operations as well as planning and policy development," said Lilburn Police Chief Bruce Hedley. "Capt. Wentzell will certainly compliment my command staff, and I am proud to have her join our team."

A Gwinnett County native, Wentzell spent 14 years with the Henry County Police Department and most recently worked with Montgomery-Robertson County Community Corrections in Montgomery County, Tennessee.
She joined the Lilburn Police Department on July 25, 2016.

Wentzell is a Collins Hill High School graduate. She has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s in public administration. She is also a graduate of the Southern Police Institute in Louisville, Kentucky.
