Man Injured in Liburn House Fire

The fire started in the home's garage and destroyed a vehicle, fire officials said.

LILBURN, GA — A man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries Monday night after a house fire broke out in Lilburn.

Firefighters responded to the scene of the fire, in the 1500 block of Fernbrook Court, at about 5:43 p.m. after a neighbor called 911. They found heavy flames and smoke coming from the home's garage and a vehicle parked inside it.

They also immediately met a man outside who had been injured in the blaze. He was transported to Grady Hospital in Atlanta.

Crews attacked the fire, which caused heavy damage to the garage and vehicle and minor damage inside the rest of the home, bringing it under control by 6:09 p.m.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Tuesday, Gwinnett County Fire & Emergency Services said in a news release. No one else was in the home and no other injuries were reported.
