The respected educator passed away Monday afternoon after leaving work ill.

Meadowcreek High School principal Ladeadrick "Bob" Jackson died Monday afternoon.

He fell ill while working at the Norcross-area school, according to Gwinnett Schools spokesperson Jorge Quintana. The school called 911 and he was taken to a local hospital, where he later passed away, according to GCPS. Nothing else is known about the cause of his death.

"He will be sorely missed, and especially by the Meadowcreek High School community," said Gwinnett Schools CEO/Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks in a statement.

"He made his mark as a teacher, assistant principal and principal, and those of us who were fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with him can only wish for more educators like Bob Jackson," Wilbanks said, praising Jackson for his professionalism and humility.

Jackson had been an educator for 23 years, with the last six years of his service at Meadowcreek. The Meadowcreek cluster includes Lilburn Elementary, Lilburn Middle and Hopkins Elementarty schools.

Jackson helped to elevate the status of the school, hitting the AYP benchmark to avoid corrective action and, later, getting national attention from the Secretary of Education.

Area superintendent Calvin Watts is currently at the school, helping to fill Jackson's roll and support the school staff.

Quintana said that a crisis team is also currently on the campus, including grief counselors who are working with the staff and students, some of whom are attending summer camp.
