Good morning Lilburn. It's Thursday, July 21 and we feel fine. Here's your digital checklist for today.
1. They Have a Day for This? We’re not sure who is responsible for it, but it’s apparently National Junk Food Day today. It’s said to be the one day out of the year when we Americans can chow down chips, chocolate and cheeseburgers without all that calorie guilt. Really? Is this day any different than any other day the rest of the year? But, if you’re a junk-foodie and want to get in the spirit of the day, here’s to you. Toss aside the broccoli and bring on a Scrumpdiddlyumptious Bar.
2. You’re Not Going to Let Snellville Win, Are You? We love our Friday night farmer’s market in Old Town, but how much do you? The is in dire need of some love in the American Farmland Trust contest to determine America’s Favorite Farmer Market. Vote Here. It takes just a minute or two to fill out a form to vote for the Lilburn market. Deadline is Aug. 31. Right now, the Snellville market is Georgia’s top vote-getter. We can’t let that happen, can we?

3. Quite an Eye-Opener: We feel for the parents of the rising ninth-graders at and high schools. For the kids, too. When school opens Aug. 8, local freshmen will be starting class more than two hours earlier than they did the past three years in middle school. Classes started at 9:20 a.m. at area middle schools; Berkmar High starts at 7:05 a.m. this year, Parkview at 7:24. There’s going to be some grumpy 14- and 15-year-olds.
4. Trivia Answer: We found you have to get up pretty early to beat one Lilburn Patch reader — “onemoretennisnut” — who correctly answered our trivia question from Wednesday’s “Five Things” feature. At 12:19 a.m., only 15 minutes after the feature was posted, the reader came correct with the answer “Dick Drago.” No, the question didn’t ask the name of Harry Potter’s classmate rival (that was Draco Malfoy), but the name of the pitcher who gave up Hank Aaron’s final career home run (his 755th). Drago was the California Angels pitcher who gave up the homer on July 20, 1976. Here’s a bit more trivia: On July 21, 2007, the final Potter book (“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”) was released.

5. Trivia Question: Lake Lucerne, the 40-acre lake located just off Stone Mountain Highway, used to known by a different name. What was it? If you have the answer email it to Lilburn Patch and get a shout-out in Friday’s “Five Things.”
