New GCPS Enrollment Numbers Released
Enrollment is a little less than expected, but officials believe the number will increase.

Gwinnett County Public Schools released its updated enrollment count this week and the student count has grown by 3,690 since last week's first count. This puts enrollment up to 160,649, still a little short of the expected enrollment, but closer to the day-after-Labor Day forecast of 162,459.
Based on the preliminary numbers, officials expect the final forecast to be very close to the original prediction of 162,459. Last year, figures grew by 1,796 from the second count to the final one so officials think it quite possible number could grow by close to the 1,810 currently short on predictions.
There will be three more enrollment counts – Aug. 22, 29 and Sept. 6. Officials said the post Labor Day count is usually the one that more accurately reflects school enrollment. In Lilburn, enrollment at both public high schools and Trickum Middle School are already above the forecast. Among elementary schools, Arcado, Camp Creek, Knight and Mountain Park also have more students than predicted.
