New Police Tasers on City Council Agenda

Lilburn Police Department is in line to receive 30 X-2 tasers at a cost of $38K.

The is expected to vote on equipping the police department with 30 new tasers at tonight's monthly meeting at City Hall.

According to the meeting agenda the cost of the X-2 tasers would be a little more than $38,000 and be purchased with State Confiscated Asset funds.

The propsoed purchase is one of 10 items the council is expected to consider at the 7:30 p.m. meeting (which follows a 6:30 p.m. work session).

Others noteworthy items are:

  • Purchase of properties at 326 and 330 Main Street ($262,500) and "to approve an agreement for the advance of proceeds and repayment" by the Downtown Development Authority and the city.
  • Amendment to Alcohol Beverage Ordinance for special events, allowing outside consumption and defining fluid-ounce measurement for a pitcher.
  • Amendment to the Intergovermental Agreement for 911 services between the city and county.
  • Purchase and installation of equipment (mobile computer terminals and wireless modems) to be compatible with Gwinnett E-911. The cost of nearly $94,000 would be paid for by Federal Forfeiture Confiscated Asset account and 2009 Public Safety SPLOST funds.
  • Contract renewal for solid wastes collection and recycling with Advance Disposal.
